Traditional Skylights

We also replace existing DOME or GLASS curb mount skylights. Whether it is damaged, non-operable, or not achieving a desired effect, we can design a new dome or glass unit to meet your needs. We work with local manufacturers to build and warranty each new skylight.

There are two main materials used to construct a skylight:

• Acrylic (dome) skylights - which are most often manufactured in single or double glazed applications can be ordered with a clear, white, or bronze UV stabilized lens. The frame can be ordred in either a mill finish or bronze color depending upon the desired look on the roof. Acrylic is often more economical.
• Glass (flat) skylights - manufactured in dual pane Low-E glass. The Low-E manages the amount of heat in the summer by reducing the amount of heat transferred throught the glass. It also blocks a certain amount of UV light which can damage wood, fabrics and cause colors to fade.

Sklights can be venting (operable) or non-venting (fixed). They can be designed with a "thermal break" which main function is to reduce condensation build up on the inside of the frame that can damage the interior finish and structure. A thermal break is built into the aluminum frame to help neutralize the variations in termperature between the inside and outside air. It also functions to provide a better cosmetic appeal from the interior. Instead of looking up the lightwell at an aluminum frame, you will see a nice white vinyl finish.
